Welcome to Sonar. By using our application to chat, share stories, or connect with others, you agree to the simple rules outlined below.
1. Your Account and Security
To use Sonar, you only need an email address. We will never ask for your phone number. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect any unauthorized access to your account, you must notify us immediately or reset your password.
2. Community Standards and Respect
Sonar is built for private, meaningful conversations between real people. By using the service, you agree not to:
- Send abusive, harassing, threatening, or unlawful content.
- Distribute spam, unsolicited bulk messages, or malware.
- Impersonate other individuals or create fraudulent verified profiles.
- Attempt to bypass, degrade, or compromise our end-to-end encryption or system security.
3. Privacy and End-to-End Encryption
Your messages and voice calls on Sonar are protected by end-to-end encryption before they leave your device. This means we cannot read your messages, listen to your calls, or share their content with third parties. Your use of Sonar is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains exactly how we handle your basic profile data and account settings.
4. Ephemeral Content and Limitations
Sonar includes features like disappearing messages ("burn after reading") and 24-hour stories. While our systems automatically purge expired content from our servers, please remember that recipients can always take screenshots or record screens using external devices. Never share sensitive personal information with people you do not trust.
5. Account Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms, engage in illegal activity, or harm the Sonar community. You may also stop using Sonar and delete your account and profile details at any time from your app settings.
6. Changes to These Terms
We keep building and updating Sonar regularly. As we introduce new privacy tools and features, we may update these Terms of Service. We will notify you of any major changes by posting the updated terms on this page.
